Duped!

Friday night Clint and I went out on the town.
And, Lane got to stay with a sitter! Since we've made the Change, when Lane is away from me we use a cup with a straw to avoid the whole sippy cup issue. Lane will use the hard top sippys only if I take the insert that keeps the cup from being spill-proof out. It seems like he can't suck hard enough to get milk out if the insert is in. Thus, with the insert out, if Lane walks around with his milk it ends up everywhere!
I forgot to tell the sitter that I took the insert out and Lane would need to sit until all of his milk was finished. Needless to say, Lane got up with his cup and the sitter realized his cup was missing the insert. She put one in and Lane drank all of his milk and wanted another cup of water!

To think, all this time he's been fooling me! That little trickster! I took this pic the next day after he finished his milk with the insert in! Can't you see the look of accomplishment in his little face?

Costume Sneak Peek

Lane's had his Halloween costume on a few times this week for some mini photo shoots. Getting him into his outfit is a process.

1. I tape his shirt to his diaper (to keep it from coming untucked)
2. Put on the wranglers
3. Fasten his belt with the huge longhorn buckle
4. Pull his vest over shirt
5. Tie on his chaps, in four places
6. Put on socks and boots
7. Add accessories, red bandana, sheriff's badge, handcuffs, and cowboy hat.

The finished product is well worth the work, but getting everything on is quite comical considering Lane doesn't want to hold still for more than a second. It's probably a lot like putting tights on a little girl!

I told myself I would only post a few pictures, I got a little carried away. These are some of my favorites!

Hodge Podge

Monday we stayed inside to avoid the rain. Lane had so much fun playing on the couch. I love his smile in this picture.Yesterday, we ran errands. When I finished buckling Lane into his car seat I turned around to shut the door and saw this persons poor leg hanging out of the back of the truck. I have to admit it made me jump. Good one Mr. Chevy truck driver. And, my favorite. Lane has become super chatty lately. He "talks" all the time. When I put him down for his nap yesterday he decided to talk instead of sleep. When I peeked in to see what he was doing he was laying on his back with his feet up on the rails of his crib looking at the ceiling and talking away. Cutie.

Weekend Fun

We had a great weekend!
Lane got dressed up to go to the fabric store with me Friday afternoon. Man, those ladies ate him up! I thought Lane was so cute we stopped to take some pictures at our front door before we went in.
Saturday we went to Waco for the Baylor homecoming.Lane got a pennant as we walked through the gate.
Unfortunately, the pennant was the highlight of the game. To say the game was rough would be an understatement.
In the end, we all had a great time. We took home a very sleepy boy!

The Change

It hasn't been easy, but we've made the change to hard top sippy cups! We changed cold turkey on Tuesday. Lane looks happy here, but it's a facade. Poor guy.

First Date

Laners and I went on our first date Monday night. Clint was out of town so we took advantage of our time alone. I thought there's no time like the present to teach Lane about taking girls on dates.

Lesson #1. Dress nice. Lane wore his cowboy boots, he knows I think they make him look cute.
Lesson #2: Don't cry when out on the town with your date. Your date will probably try to pretend you're not together!

Lesson #3: Don't grab food off your date's plate. I think we need to work on that some more. At least he practiced using his fork.
Lesson #4: Use your manners. Hmmm.... also need to work on that one.
Lesson #5: Get dessert. Lane's got that one down!
Lesson #6: Don't steal your dates dessert. Somehow, Lane convinced me to give my cone to him.
Lesson #7: Go somewhere fun after dinner. We went to Target. My amazing date got me some earrings. I think he did it to make up for his table manners. Works for me!

Out and About

The Grand P's left us Saturday morning, but before they left we got in some fun stuff! We went downtown to see the bats. We had never been, I think we were a little late in the season. We already decided we'll go back next year in the summer when they are at their best.
After the bats we ate dinner at Chuy's. Lane ate and ate and ate. He loved the chips and salsa!
By the time we were finished, he was stuffed. The brown spots on his face are the refried beans he wanted to save for later.
We went and got Lane his third haircut. For a guy who doesn't have much hair he sure gets his hair cut alot!
I do have to say, he is pretty cute with his new big boy haircut.
We went to the pumpkin patch. They had wagons there that we could use while we looked for pumpkins. Lane loved riding around in it!
G & G helped him pick out the perfect pumpkin(s). Decisions, decisions.
I caught this little guy falling as it slipped out of Lane's hand.
Lane insisted on pulling his wagon with his chosen pumpkins.
We stopped for a family picture. Neither of my boys wanted to cooperate.
And, on our last night together we went back downtown to window shop and get some dessert.

Thanks

My parents got into town late Tuesday night for fall break. These are two things they brought for Lane.

A t-shirt that says: Don't mess with me because my Dad kicks Butt. Um yeah, I'm pretty sure I got my mouth washed out with soap a few times for saying Butt as a kid. Thanks Grammy and Grampy.

And, two guns, that Lane carried everywhere yesterday. Grammy even taught him to draw and aim them. Nothing like introducing Lane to violence at an early age. I think I'm going to tell them that next time they don't need to bring anything for Lane.

Guests Galore

Lane has been a busy boy!
Friday afternoon his Grandparents came to visit! We had a great time doing lots of stuff, but going to the Cathedral of Junk and Fredricksburg were highlights of our weekend together.
Saturday night my Sister's dogs Bella and Charlee came to say with us. Lane loved having two more dogs to play with!
Sunday afternoon on their way out of town the Nuses' stopped by. Lane is just a few months older than Lucy. He wasn't quite the gentleman I hoped he would be, he took toy after toy away from Lucy, but it was so good to see our friends and see how Miss Lucy is growing. She is adorable!
And finally, Sunday night my Sister and Brother in Law came to stay with us for the night! We had a great dinner together. Yes, Lane does have some green on his face, he tried to eat a crayon when no one was looking!
This morning, Lane got a shaker of sugar crystals out of the pantry. He carried them around the house for a while before he figured out how to open the lid and....
So glad Auntie and Uncle T were here to clean up before we left to do some shopping at the outlet mall.

My parents are coming down tomorrow night. Can't wait to have more company!

Dinnertime

Last night Lane sat in his highchair while I made dinner. Most evenings he sits and snacks and plays while I cook. Last night while I cooked I gave Lane some cheese, raw mushrooms, and a small cup of water.

When I looked up this was what I found. Lane had dumped most of his water on the tray and he was playing away in the water. He had eaten all of his cheese but not his mushrooms. I thought ok, he'll eat them now that he is done with his cheese. I cleaned up the water and went back to the stove.
The next time I looked up Lane had thrown all of his mushrooms onto the floor. Usually, Murphy eats whatever finds it's way to the floor. Apparently Murph doesn't like raw mushrooms either.
Lane did enjoy a delicious dinner. Spaghetti with cooked mushrooms, his favorite. He was covered in sauce! Because neither one of us was ready to begin the clean up process we sat and enjoyed some after dinner entertainment.
Lane loves to shake it and beat-box with his Dad.
