A night at the park

Baseball season officially starts in RR in two weeks; we're soaking up the beautiful weather and every free night we have until then.
We walked to one of our neighborhood parks last night. Lane and Daddy had the best time playing!
Lane was so cute looking down at me between the rails. He loved climbing up the stairs to all the different slides.
Lane went down the steepest slide with Dad.
Then he decided that he could do it on his own. He would have gone down that one slide all night if we had let him. I was stationed at the bottom to catch him, and he would come down so fast I had to brace myself to keep from falling backwards.
Lane gave me a wave as he went down the spiral slide.
We showed Dad how Lane loves to climb the arched rungs. To my surprise, Lane climbed up a smaller arch at another park a week or two ago. This big arch didn't even phase him. He went right up, Clint stayed close to make sure his feet didn't fall through, but he went right up. I'll never tell him that I was afraid of those crazy things well into elementary school.
We finished up our fun night outside with an ice cream cone. Can't get any better than that!

2 Scoops

Lane loves his "sissy", Murphy. First thing when I get him up in the morning he asks where Sissy is and usually about that time I hear her bounding up the stairs to give Lane kisses as I change his diaper.
Once Lane is dressed and ready to come down for breakfast his first thing to do in the kitchen is feed sissy. He comes in, says sissy, and gets her two scoops of her food, or three or four depending on how closely I'm watching. This morning he actually tried to hold up two fingers and said two scoops. I think Murph might get a little frustrated that Lane isn't faster, but she does her best to be patient with him.
Now Lane just has to wait until tonight before dinner to feed her one more time.

My little talker

My little Laner has not been much of a talker... up until now. Lane has spent the past 22 months focusing on learning to do everything but talk. He loves to do puzzles, read books, "help" me do things around the house, he is especially good at throwing things away for me and picking out his shoes and socks on a daily basis. He likes to throw and kick a ball, go up and down the stairs, and drink out of a regular cup after he helps himself to water out of the refrigerator door. And most of all, his favorite thing to do is figure out how to get into, on top of, or around the things that Mommy and Daddy ask him not to.

And now, the past couple of weeks he has been saying all kinds of things that take me by surprise. Last week he walked up to the quilt hanging on his wall, pointed to a star and said star without any prompting. He then spent the rest of the day pointing out other stars he saw around the house. Then, another day he did the same thing with circles. Today as we were getting ready to go downstairs for lunch he actually said "pick up" and started picking up his toys! I mean seriously, I say it every day, but I never thought he would say it when I didn't!

This morning when I got Lanes clothes out of his closet he took his shirt to check it out. It's a new one so he really looked it over good. Once we had it on I noticed that he kept looking at the little bear on the pocket. When I asked him about it he said Bella, my Sister's yorkie. She is brown and little and cute so I can see how he might think the cute little bear looks like Bella. Clint got a video of Lane saying Bella, which is by far the funniest thing he says. The video is a little repetitious, but it's too cute to cut down.

Holy Cuteness

Lane has been doing so many cute things lately! I don't know if it's because I've missed having him all to myself the past few weeks, maybe it's because I know that in a few short months I'll have to share my attention between to precious kiddos, or it could just be that I think he is the cutest little thing I have ever seen.

A new trick Grammy taught him while he stayed with G & G in OK. I remember my Mom doing this with me when I was little. Always good for a laugh!
Lane gets to feed Murphy every morning and evening. This was a couple nights ago before he fed her. He made himself at home on top of her bowls and gave me the cheesiest smile he could muster.
Playing around with Dad before dinner tonight. Lane had a great time clapping with his mitts on and then started covering his ears with them. I think he looks like a giant goldfish.
Lane's newest trick! This is by far the best thing he has learned during my pregnancy related obsession with pasta. I could watch those little lips pucker up around pasta noodles all day. One more good reason to have pasta as often as possible!

Spring Break!

We haven't blogged the past few weeks because we've been on one super long Spring Break! It's been a long time, so I'll give the shortest recap possible.

The first week of March we went to Bartlesville for the Lone Star Conference Basketball tournament. It just so happens that the 5 day tournament is in my hometown. So, Clint got to announce games while Lane and I hung out with Grammy and Grampy.
We ran around alot, went to fun places for lunch, and Lane got lots of attention. His favorite!
He went for his 100th haircut, or maybe his 5th. That boy can grow some hair!
Grammy and Grampy got him a laptop of his very own. I'm thinking he may be taking over the blog soon.
We got to go to the park to feed the ducks. Lane had fun throwing the ducks bread until he realized it was bread like he eats, then he decided he didn't want to share.
And, we spent some time at the basketball games. Lane took his mic so he could imitate Dad. Too cute!
And yes, Grampy and Lane have the exact same shirt on. My Mom got them for them for Christmas. Clint said that from across the gym it looked like they were one person with two heads.
As we were packing to come home I mentioned that I had thought that it would have been fun for Lane to stay in Bartlesville for the week since my parents had already planned to come to RR the next week. My P's jumped at the chance, so last week Clint and I had our own mini Spring Break.
While Lane was with Grammy and Grampy he went to Topeka to visit my Mom's brother, Uncle Tom.
He went to a fish fry at Nina Ruth and PaPa Bobs. He was really looking forward to playing with Rylee, but she wasn't feel well.
Since Rylee wasn't well enough to play, Lane borrowed her pink jacket and headed outside to hang out on the porch.
Lane loved when he was around Auntie Sarah, she gives the best massages! Lane got to spend two nights at her and Uncle Tyler's house. He calls my sister Auntie and Tyler, Uncle T. Since they both have Ts in their names Lane calls them both T-T.
On Thursday, before Grammy and Grampy brought Lane home the T-Ts had dinner for Grammy and Grampy and Nina and Papa. Lane enjoyed his dinner so much he decided to give it all back to Auntie, all over Auntie, about three hours after he ate. To say she and Uncle T were totally grossed out would be an understatement.
Lane got home with Grammy and Grampy friday night, just in time to go hear Dad announce the Boy's State Tournament at the Erwin Center.
Before Clint went to Spring Training for a few day, we got to spend Sunday afternoon at the Austin rodeo.
Lane made some friends at the petting zoo.
And then we all headed over to the arena to watch some bull riding. Lane had so much fun flirting with my Mom. He had so much fun, he succumbed to a short nap while we watched the bulls.
Lane got to go on his first Donut Date with Grampy while my Mom and I went to my monthly Dr. appointment. I heard Lane didn't care much for his donut, but he had a great time on his outing with Grampy.
When the boys got home my Dad made some adjustments to Lane's dresser. While Grampy was down on the floor Lane curled up on him to "help".
Before Grammy and Grampy left today, Lane got one last massage from Grammy.
Lane is one worn out little boy from all the fun we've had the past few weeks. Lane cried and cried as my Parents drove away this morning.

Luckily for us, Clint's Parents are arriving tomorrow morning for a short weekend visit. Lane will be in hog heaven for a couple more days.
