Lane's very first school carnival was Saturday night. Growing up my School carnivals were one of my favorite things ever. I was so excited for Lane to get to experience all of the fun. Friday after school he and I helped set the games up, he saw all the treats and candy, but he had no idea what it was all for.
Lane played a couple of games and he was hooked. If he won the game or achieved the goal of the game he got tickets he could redeem for a prize at the end of the night. If he didn't win he got candy. He was just as happy to get the candy as he was the tickets.
Oh, the other fun thing about the carnival was that Lane got to wear his Halloween costume. Since we have been working on our house he has become obsessed with tool belts and tools. One day when I asked him what he wanted to be for Halloween he told me he wanted to be a construction worker with a hat and a vest. I think he made an adorable "worker guy" as he called himself.
Marlee didn't play many games. She hung out with Grammy and watched all of the big kids.
Marlee did get her face painted. She told the girl she wanted both cheeks painted and held super still, something that rarely does. And, I just remembered she refused to wear her Halloween costume. She is going to be an adorable bumble bee - if we can get her to keep it on for more than 5 minutes.
Marlee did work up the courage to play a few games. She liked the car racing game.
The highlight of Lane's night was winning a can of pop in the ring toss. He was so proud of himself that he carried it out of his prize bag all night so everyone could see it. Lane has never had soda before. He looked up at me at one point during the night and told me "he's a big boy now because he's going to drink a coke". Thankfully, he won a caffeine free root beer.
Our favorite game of the night, the potty toss. You had three chances to throw toilet paper into the potty. Lane was really good at it.
Today, Lane got to drink his soda. He was soooo excited!! He wanted to drink it for breakfast instead of milk, somehow we were able to hold him off until after lunch.
