Construction Man Lane

With all of our work on our house Lane has become obsessed with tools and construction man gear.  We found this adorable set at Lowes and Grammy had to get it for Lane.
Lane has used his tools to build his very on car.  Grampy helped him and he did great!
Clint took him outside one night to do some "work" on a 2 X 4  and Lane was all over it!
He gets very serious and uses a super cute big boy voice when he is "working".
 Possibly my favorite shot!
And Mr. Construction Man's loyal assistant.   Always by his side.
All fogged up after working outside.

Lane's Cookout

Lane loves to have Hot Dog cookouts!  He's been talking about having hot dogs for dinner for a couple of weeks so Grammy helped him plan a real cookout at a State Park not too far from Bartlesville.  Lane invited Nina and Popeye for his special cookout.
As soon as we got there the guys got busy building the fire.
Marlee tried out chairs to see which one she liked the best.
We all roasted our hot dogs over the fire and chowed down.  Lane loved the rock table that he and Popeye used for their drinks.
Once Lane finished his hot dog he was ready to roast marshmallows.  Grampy and Popeye helped him load us his skewer with marshmallows.
He ate an entire plateful of marshmallows!
After our dinner and dessert the kids had a great time exploring.  We went on a little hike and then the kids looked for rocks.
Lane and Dad posed for a goofy picture.
And Clint taught Lane to "spider swing".  Lane loved it!
And Lane tired to teach Marlee hot to roll down a hill.
We all had a great time!

Marlee's big news...

Marlee is not a great sleeper.  She sleeps through the night some nights and then she will go on a streak where she wakes up 4-5 or more times in one night.  We've been trying to come up with incentives to keep her in her bed all night.  Last night, before bed, I told her I would paint her toes and fingers pink if she slept in her bed all night.  She did it!  Now when Marlee sleeps all night and wakes up she has started saying she slept allllll night with great enthusiasm.  We love it!

Halloween at Kiddie Park

Tonight we celebrated Halloween at the Kiddie Park.  Amazingly, I got Marlee in her bumble bee costume and she stayed in it and she was happy about it!
Our first ride of the night was the carousel.
Marlee knew she was cute!  She loves to pose when she thinks she likes what she is wearing.
Lane thought this car was super cool.  He liked it as much as he liked the rides.
Marlee didn't ride as many rides as Lane did so we got lots of snuggle time with her.

Dad wanted to try out the bee's antennas.  I think he looked pretty cute.
We saw a couple of clowns making balloon animals as we were leaving.  Lane got a spider he was very excited about.
And Marlee got a giant heart wand.  She loves it so much she wanted to sleep with it tonight.
We all left kiddie park a little cold and very happy.

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

Today was a big day!  Lane got to go on his very first field trip and ride on a real school bus for the very first time!  He has been wanting to ride on a real school bus forever so today was a dream come true!   The pumpkin patch was about an hour away so it was a nice long ride.  The kids got to make pumpkin t-shirts for the day and they were all so cute.
We got to go through the sorghum maze.  It looked like corn, but we learned there is a difference between sorghum and corn.  When Lane walks through the hall at school he puts his hands behind his back and puts a bubble in his mouth, he followed the rules even in the maze.

Marlee got to go to the pumpkin patch too.  Being a little sister has it's perks!

The kids got to roam the pumpkin patch to look at all the different kinds of pumpkins.  Lane stopped for a quick minute so I could take a picture of him with his buddies - Jay and Shartak.
After the kids looked around for awhile they got to pick their own small pumpkin off the vine.

Lane and his friends were all very proud of the pumpkins they chose.
Marlee got her very own pumpkin just for being cute.
The kids all stopped for a quick class picture.
Lane found a big pumpkin to pose for a picture on.
Everyone had a picnic outside and had enough time left over to play on the giant hay bale slides.  Lane and his friends could have played on them all day.
And the highlight of the day - time to get back on the "big yellow school bus" for the ride home!
Lane's first field trip was so much fun and I am so glad that we were able to be a part of it.

Lane's 1st School Carnival

Lane's very first school carnival was Saturday night.  Growing up my School carnivals were one of my favorite things ever.  I was so excited for Lane to get to experience all of the fun.  Friday after school he and I helped set the games up, he saw all the treats and candy, but he had no idea what it was all for.

Lane played a couple of games and he was hooked.  If he won the game or achieved the goal of the game he got tickets he could redeem for a prize at the end of the night.  If he didn't win he got candy.  He was just as happy to get the candy as he was the tickets.

Oh, the other fun thing about the carnival was that Lane got to wear his Halloween costume.  Since we have been working on our house he has become obsessed with tool belts and tools.  One day when I asked him what he wanted to be for Halloween he told me he wanted to be a construction worker with a hat and a vest.  I think he made an adorable "worker guy" as he called himself.
Marlee didn't play many games.  She hung out with Grammy and watched all of the big kids.
Marlee did get her face painted.  She told the girl she wanted both cheeks painted and held super still, something that rarely does.  And, I just remembered she refused to wear her Halloween costume.  She is going to be an adorable bumble bee - if we can get her to keep it on for more than 5 minutes.
Marlee did work up the courage to play a few games.  She liked the car racing game.
The highlight of Lane's night was winning a can of pop in the ring toss.  He was so proud of himself that he carried it out of his prize bag all night so everyone could see it.  Lane has never had soda before.  He looked up at me at one point during the night and told me "he's a big boy now because he's going to drink a coke".  Thankfully, he won a caffeine free root beer.
Our favorite game of the night, the potty toss.  You had three chances to throw toilet paper into the potty.  Lane was really good at it.
Today, Lane got to drink his soda.  He was soooo excited!!   He wanted to drink it for breakfast instead of milk, somehow we were able to hold him off until after lunch.
