One Away

I cannot believe that today is the last game of the season. I always get a little teary eyed at the end of the season. We begin April with a little bit of both dread and excitement. We look forward to Clint doing what he loves all summer long, all while dreading the weeks of 11+ hour days. I absolutely love what Clint does, but I do miss him he's not home. We've pretty much camped out at the ballpark all summer long just to see Daddy!

Clint and Lane ran the bases one last time last night. The game lasted a whopping 15 innings! Seriously, what is up with that?
We ran into Spike at home plate and took our "annual" year end picture. I can say annual now that we have done it two years! I have already decided it will be a family tradition. As I thanked Spike for taking the picture with Lane he said it was like taking a picture with a fish. I'm going to try to get a better picture today, but if not, I think this one's pretty cute.

Pretty amazing to see the difference from last year's picture. I don't even want to think about what next year's picture will look like.
Now I'm really going to cry.

Summer isn't over! At least not for us. With the highs still in the upper 90's we are still enjoying the pool. Lane has the whole place to himself and loves it!
He can take his time getting in.

Practice blowing bubbles.
Or, just sit and soak up the sun.
His favorite trick is getting in and out of the pool.

Last night we went to one of our favorite walking trails. We haven't been since before the season started. Lane got us pumped up before we started.

As you can see, he wasn't too enthusiastic about our adventure.
While we walked I remembered something I had admired the last time we were at the park. I know how much Lane loves his sandbox at home so I knew he would love the giant sandbox we had seen at the park.
The sandbox has toys everywhere. I put Lane's little feet in and he was off! He was so excited.

Lane had the best time collecting shovels and Clint go to play a little too.
Lane got a little tangled in Murphy's leash.
And played some more before we had to head back.
He did not want to leave!

Happiness

My two happy guys after running the bases at the game. Lane had the best time! He really didn't run, he wondered. And by wondered, I mean played in the dirt and pointed up and the lights saying pretty. At any rate, they had a great time on the field.
Lane even got a ride on the field crews' tractor. Can't get much better than that!

The Waiting Game

Lane has learned, if you go to see the Doctor you have to wait... and wait... and wait. Luckily, he's learned how to pass the time. You know, like check out the magazines.
Make a toy out of anything in sight. He loved trying to fit himself into this basket.
Another great toy that can be found at any Doctor's office, a blown up rubber glove.
Lane loved opening and shutting the door. Can you tell that he had been told not to play with the door? That's a "are you watching me?" look if I've ever seen one.
And if all else fails, tidy the place up. I'm sure the Doctor appreciated Lane's work.

Found him!

Since the season began in April, people have been asking me if Lane recognizes Clint's voice. Luckily, Clint doesn't walk around the house using his "announcer" voice so Lane has no idea Daddy and the announcer are the same person. However, I have been trying to help Lane find Clint at games for quite a while now.
Last night we had a pretty small crowd, school started here today. We had the perfect view of Clint so I pointed him out to Lane and bingo! Lane found Clint. He waved and said Da Da over and over.
It was so fun! I'm excited to see if Lane remembers where Clint is tonight. After all the excitement, Lane got in a few games of peek a boo with a family a few rows behind us.
**Bonus Picture**

Saturday night, Lane found the box of Softee Balls that Clint throws out during the game. He had his very own mini pool of balls.

Lane's Adventure

While Clint and I were in NYC, Lane went on a little vacation of his own. He went to Oklahoma! Lucky guy. While he was there he got to do tons of fun stuff. Starting with, a second haircut.

He wasn't feeling it. It looks like he did relax for a little bit though!

He got to hang out with his big sis Rylee. Looks like they were working on some baseball skills.

G & G got him a new ride. Cool dude!

Grampy insisted he have a helmet when he rides his motorcycle. Looks like he liked it!

Who said a picture is worth a thousand words? The video tells the real story.
On Friday everyone headed to southern Oklahoma for the Harton Family Reunion. I think my P's sent this picture because they are trying to tell me something - a possible name change is in their future?
While at the reunion Lane got to meet PaPa Bob's sisters. One of which has the best potato casserole recipe ever!
Lane had a great time swinging in the little car swing.
He swung and swung. It looks like he even convinced PaPa Bob to swing with him. Grampy and Lane had some pool time.
He went for lots of wagon rides. He even found a buddy to carpool with, or would that be wagonpool?
With all that was going on Lane even found some time to just sit and relax.

Or, to sit and watch Grampy play kickball. Go Grampy!

Lane told me he had a great time in OK!
