Lane's 1st School Carnival

Lane's very first school carnival was Saturday night.  Growing up my School carnivals were one of my favorite things ever.  I was so excited for Lane to get to experience all of the fun.  Friday after school he and I helped set the games up, he saw all the treats and candy, but he had no idea what it was all for.

Lane played a couple of games and he was hooked.  If he won the game or achieved the goal of the game he got tickets he could redeem for a prize at the end of the night.  If he didn't win he got candy.  He was just as happy to get the candy as he was the tickets.

Oh, the other fun thing about the carnival was that Lane got to wear his Halloween costume.  Since we have been working on our house he has become obsessed with tool belts and tools.  One day when I asked him what he wanted to be for Halloween he told me he wanted to be a construction worker with a hat and a vest.  I think he made an adorable "worker guy" as he called himself.
Marlee didn't play many games.  She hung out with Grammy and watched all of the big kids.
Marlee did get her face painted.  She told the girl she wanted both cheeks painted and held super still, something that rarely does.  And, I just remembered she refused to wear her Halloween costume.  She is going to be an adorable bumble bee - if we can get her to keep it on for more than 5 minutes.
Marlee did work up the courage to play a few games.  She liked the car racing game.
The highlight of Lane's night was winning a can of pop in the ring toss.  He was so proud of himself that he carried it out of his prize bag all night so everyone could see it.  Lane has never had soda before.  He looked up at me at one point during the night and told me "he's a big boy now because he's going to drink a coke".  Thankfully, he won a caffeine free root beer.
Our favorite game of the night, the potty toss.  You had three chances to throw toilet paper into the potty.  Lane was really good at it.
Today, Lane got to drink his soda.  He was soooo excited!!   He wanted to drink it for breakfast instead of milk, somehow we were able to hold him off until after lunch.

Wayside Walk-A-Thon

Today was Lane's Walk-a-thon at school.  He raised a lot of money, thanks to his Dad's coworkers and our family.  We all went to support Lane and Clint ended up running laps with Lane.  Lane did not want his Dad to leave his side.
Lane got a tally mark on a card around his wrist every time he completed a lap.
Marlee got to make a couple laps with the boys.  She loves being around all the big kids in Lane's class.
Lane's cheering section - Grammy & Grampy and Nina & Popeye.

My big boy with 10 tally marks!
After the walk the kids got a snack to enjoy outside.  They were happy campers after all that running!

Girl's Day

My Mom, Marlee, and I met my Sister in Tulsa for a Girl's day.  We had a great time shopping and decided to go to the girliest place we could find for lunch.  We found a tea house that none of us had been to before.  We had a tea party and a delicious lunch.
Miss Marlee got her very own cup of tea.  Her cup wasn't as dainty as ours, but I don't think it would have made it through lunch if it was.
Marlee let me put a headband on her for the occasion.  She has refused to wear bows in her hair for the past few months.  Just recently Aunt Sarah pointed out to Marlee that Hello Kitty wears a bow and that has made all the difference.

Workin on the House

We are still working away on our new house!  We are getting close to being able to move in, we hope.  This Sunday afternoon Clint took a wheelbarrow over to haul tile out of a bathroom and the kids hitched a ride.  I think it was the highlight of their week!

Bruins

Friday night Clint got to announce his first High School Football game.  It was fun to be back where I spend many a Friday night while I was in High School.  Clint did great of course and the kids and I had fun sitting in the bleachers with our friends and family.  Lane and Marlee spend most of the game cheering with their pom poms.
Lane made fast friends with Miss Regan.  She is a Kindergartner so what she did Lane copied.  They had a great time together.
Clint had so much fun being up in the booth announcing.  We are so thankful he has the opportunity to get to announce and pursue his new career in Real Estate.   He is loving his new job and he will always love announcing and working with athletic teams.  Getting to work with the Bruins will be a great hobby for him.

Pre-K Lane

Lane had a great first day of Pre-K and a great first week!  He loves going to school!!  The first day I took lots of pictures.  Lane wasn't very excited about it, but he cooperated a little bit.
You can't tell that he is excited at all, can you?
The line to get into his classroom was very long.  Lane had a hard time waiting to get in.
Once he finally got in he knew exactly where to put his backpack and lunch bag.
And he went right to a center that he thought looked like fun without a second look back.
Marlee on the other hand is not too crazy about Lane leaving her to go to school.  The first day she moped around the better part of the day.  She was so bored she fell asleep in the middle of floor, something she has never ever done before.    Lane knew I was sad that he was going to school so he told me "Mommy don't be sad, Marlee will take care of you".
I miss Lane terribly and cannot wait for him to come home from school.  But, I do love having one on one time with my Marlee.   She has been so much fun, her little personality really shines when she has all of the attention.

Tomorrow's a Big Day!

Today has been a hard day for me.  My sweet Lane starts Pre-Kindergarten this year, he's ready and excited but Momma's not.  Tonight we went to "open house" at school.  Lane had a great time checking out his classroom and playing with some of the kids in his class.  Of course I had him take a picture in front of his very first locker.
Here he's sitting in his spot for circle time.
This is the reading area.  I think this will be a favorite area of Lanes.
The common area outside of the Pre-K classrooms has a fun play scape.  Marlee might be a little jealous of all the cool things Lane is going to get to play with.  I'm thinking she is going to miss him like crazy.  We'll probably both be crying tomorrow wishing Lane was home with us.
Lane is sooo excited to start school.  We went to have a one on one session with his teacher last week and you can see how excited he was.  We've been talking about school for quite a while now, but today every time we talked about it I just couldn't hold back the tears.  At one point he said "don't cry Mommy, I'll come home when school is over".  He has such a sweet heart and I don't worry for one bit that he'll do great.  I just want him to be happy and I hate to think that he's going to run into things we haven't prepared him for.  I know that's a part of life, I just have a hard time dealing with it when it comes to my baby.
If you think about us tomorrow please say a prayer for us!  His school is a full day, he's to be there from 8:50-3:35.  Today I watched the clock and it's a long time!  I'll be sure to report back how the day goes.
