Bruin Football

High School football started on Friday!  Lane's teacher has kids in High School so I think they talk about going to games quite a bit.  Thursday night before Lane went to bed he reminded me that he needed to wear his Bruin shirt to school.  On Friday morning he was ready to go to the game!  Finally, Friday night we went with Grammy and Grampy to the game, Daddy is announcing the games so he was already up there.

The kids all had fun.  They were busy all night!  The most exciting part of the game?  Talking to the bear everytime he walked by.

By the end of the 3rd quarter Lane was done.  He went over and put his head on Nina's lap.  She loved on him and before we knew it he was asleep standing up.

Backyard Campout!

Clint and the big kids had a campout while this little cutie and I hung out inside!  I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I don't have a baby to keep inside during campouts?
Lane and Clint camped out in the backyard in Round Rock, but this was Marlee's first time!
Everyone was super excited to help out.

For whatever reason, I didn't get a picture of the kids in front of the tent once it was set up.  They did get it set up and read lots of books, played a bit, and went to bed.  I was a nervous wreck that one of the kids would wake up in the night and get lost in the backyard.  Clint was with them, so I wasn't that worried - but I made lots of trips out to check on everyone!
The last time I went out to check everyone I found Marlee off the air mattress right next to the tent door.  Clint and Lane were up on the air mattress.
It was a great night for the camp out, except at about 5 am it started thundering and by 6 am it was pouring rain!  The campers somehow slept through the thunder.  A little after the rain started Clint came running in the kiddos, who thought the rain was super fun.  They all had a great time and are ready to campout in the yard again!

1st Day of Kindergarten

1st let me address the Elephant in the room.  I have been a bad blogger!  I haven't blogged in months and have missed posting so many milestones on the blog!  The kids are all doing great. I think I may try to go back and catch up a bit because we had a great summer and I am ready to get back to blogging, or at least try to keep up!  So onto business....

Today was Lane's first day of Kindergarten!  Last night we gave him a Superman belt I had ordered for him a few months ago for his first day of school.  He loved it and was excited to wear it.  I used the belt as an incentive to pick out an outfit before he went to bed.  Luckily, Lane was willing to cooperate and he even tried on a few different pairs of shorts to make sure they fit!  A rarity!

Marlee was excited for Lane this morning, but she is really going to miss her brother.  They learned to play together this summer, I'm not saying they always got along, but we made some great progress.
Grammy and Grampy came over this morning to take Lane with us.
We are so proud of our big boy!
I hated to tell him goodbye this morning, but I know he is having a great time!  That, and he promised me I could go back to pick him up this afternoon.
When Lane was three we "home schooled" him. We sat down every morning to have school time.  I promised Marlee she could start home school this year.  Today we worked on letters and played some games.  She loved it!
And this little sweet pea just wanted to go back to sleep.  She's a late sleeper and 8:30 came way to early this morning.  I just put her down and she is out!
The girls and I are meeting Clint for lunch today, and then we'll be counting down the hours until we get to go pick Lane up.  I can't wait to hear all about his day!

Family Room Camp Out

This little girl has big news!  She loves to pull up on the ottoman!   And she got to have a camp out in the family room, for a little bit, with the big kids!
Lane and Marlee helped Dad set up the tent, and could not wait to check it out.
They let me in the tent for a minute to take a quick picture.
And then they got down to business with Dad.  They set up the air mattress while I made the popcorn.  They watched a movie and slept all night down in the tent.
They had a great time and are ready to try camping out in the backyard next.  Elizabeth are going to stick with our comfy beds in the house!

Lane's School Assembly

We just got home from Lane's first assembly at school!  He did so good, and I am so proud of him!  It seems he is his Dad through and through.   Each class of Pre-K had four kids chosen to have a little speaking part at the all school assembly.  He was one of the four from his class.  I am so glad he had the opportunity to speak.
My guy in the sea of kids as they left the assembly.
Grammy, Grampy, Nina, Popeye, and Aunt Sarah, Daddy, Marlee and Elizabeth all came to watch Lane.  We had a great time and couldn't be more proud!

Snow Days!

When we lived in Texas we didn't see much snow.  We still haven't seen that much, but we've had two days off from school thanks to snow days.
Our first snow day was a couple of weeks ago while Clint was out of town.  The kids and I went over to Grammy and Grampy's so I could do some work and the kids could play on their sled.  Lane and Marlee were excited to go out and play in the snow.
Once we were out in it, Marlee decided she didn't like it.  You can see that she's not to happy in her picture.
Lane on the other hand loved it!  He would have stayed outside all day if I had let him.
Our first snow day, the snow was more like slush.  We were only able to build a mini snowman.
Our second snow day was just a week after our first one.  Grammy and Grampy came to our house with the sled this time.  Grampy pulled Lane and Marlee around the yard.
Until Marlee decided she had enough.  She found a nice warm spot inside to watch the boys outside.
They were able to build a big snowman this time!
Miss Elizabeth stayed warm and cozy both snow days.
And the best thing about playing in the snow?  The hot cocoa waiting inside!
Lane learned to build and snowballs.  He's a pretty good shot!

Taxi Grammy

Grammy and Grampy live just down the street from us.  When we moved here I really wanted to find a house in their neighborhood.  Living close has really paid off.  On mornings when Clint has to be at work early or when he's out of town, Grammy comes over to pick Lane up and take him to school.  It saves me from having to get the girls up and around and it gives Lane and Grammy some time together.
We are so thankful we have Grammy & Grampy close by to help!
