Sick Day

This sweet little boy was sick all night last night. We went to the game as usual, he was fine. He enjoyed the 7th inning stretch, someone even gave him a ball that he played with and then all the sudden in the top of the 8th he started crying uncontrollably. He wanted me to hold him, so I did, but he couldn't quit crying. Then, in the top of the 9th he started gagging. I was afraid he would throw up so we got the heck out of the stands. I am sure I will have do deal with it before long, but last night I was not ready for my first "my child just threw up in public" experience. We had taken Clint to work that day so I called him and asked him to come down so we could leave as soon as the game was over. Bless his heart, he came running down to meet us at the gate. We decided to have the EMT's check him before we left the stadium. Of course he perked up so we thought maybe he had just gotten too hot. On the way home my sweet boy puked all over himself and his carseat over and over again. I was so thankful that Clint was there to drive while I tried to soothe Lane. We got home cleaned Lane and his carseat up while Miss Marlee patiently, or not so patiently waited to be fed. Dad fed her while she did her little old lady impersonation.
She kept pulling her cheeks, which pulled her eyes. You can see her still pulling her right cheek in this pic. She's just like her brother already, anything for a laugh.
So, after a long night, Lane, Marlee and I have had a mellow day. Lane caught up on some reading.
Watched some tv while munching on saltine crackers and sipping pedialite.
And, played around on his computer.
All while Marlee slept. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm bored! I've cleaned and washed everything I can think of. I hope my dude feels better tomorrow!

Big News!

Lane held his baby sister for the first time today! He's been reluctant to hold her, until today! Lane would hold her hand, pat her, and give her kisses, but he would not hold her. This morning, I asked him if he wanted to hold Marlee, she was crying at the time, and he said yes!
He sat straight up against the pillows on our bed and held her. She quit crying right away and they sat together for several minutes, or hours in Lane time. Lane loves his baby sister and she loves him! She didn't move a muscule the entire time he held her.

Our 1st Photo Shoot

We had a little photo shoot with the kids in the front yard last night (I love saying the kids!). These are some of my favorites, there's a lot, but I couldn't just choose one or two to post. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

Yes, Lane's blue and white stripe shirt says Marlee and Me. His MiMi had it embroidered for him.

2 Weeks & 123

Marlee Grace is two weeks old today! In some ways it seems like she has been here forever and in some ways it feels like she just got here. It's usually in the middle of the night that I think she just got here, you know, when I'm delirious. In all actuality, Miss Marlee is a joy. Lane was an easy baby so I didn't know if I could be so lucky twice, but Marlee is a very easy baby. She only really cries when she is hungry. She spends a couple hours a day awake checking things out. She puts up with her Mama's need to put big flowers and bows in her hair. And, she is fabulous at sleeping through her brother's loud noises and toys.

I never realized how loud Lane is until Marlee got here. That boy is always jibber jabbering about something! Just today as we were eating lunch he looked down, out of nowhere, and counted to five all by himself without any prompting from me. We've been working on his ABC's and numbers forever. He will try to sing along his ABC's but he rarely counts, so for him to count to five by himself was very exciting. As usual, he did it in his own way on his own time.Today at Marlee's Doctor appointment we got an update on how she is doing. She is...
8 pounds, 8.5 ounces the 63rd percentile (girlfriend has gained 13 ounces in one week!)
20 inches long the 38th percentile
her head is 36.9 cm the 75th percentile (her head must be big to fit her big brain)
Lane was very good while Marlee got checked out. He wanted first wanted me to hold him so he could watch Dr. Chang check Marlee out and then he wanted to sit on the exam table with her. When we had to leave the room to have Marlee weighed Lane even got my purse and carried it out to the scale for me. I couldn't have asked for a better helper.

On Our Own

Yesterday my parents left us... We really missed them, but we managed to make it through the day. We played outside until it got too warm and then moved the party to our room.
I got a little concerned when Lane started playing with the boy in the mirror. I think he missed having his Grammy and Grampy's constant attention.
After lunch, we made our first trip, out on our own, to the grocery store. Lane insisted on riding in a car cart, so we loaded up. Marlee was a little trooper. She fussed a little, but for the most part I think she enjoyed being out.
Evidence of our successful trip. I had groceries and bags in every free space.
After the grocery we rewarded ourselves with drinks from Sonic. We even took a drink up to Dad at work. Marlee slept the whole way there and home. I think Lane would have been out too, but his Sonic ice kept him busy.
After dinner, we all went to the neighborhood pool. Dad and Lane swam while Marlee and I watched. It was a fun, relaxing evening for all of us.

One last hoorah

My Parents left us this morning. It was so nice to have them here. They did so much to help us transition from a family of three to a family of four. Clint has had games the past 8 days so I don't know what we would have done without them.

Before they left, we spent our Sunday enjoying our last day together. Lane got to help Grammy do some baking.
And he went out to do some mowing. He went out to practice riding his tricycle, but he quit to get out his mower.Sunday night we went to the game and Lane got to run the bases with Grampy.
We sure are going to miss having Grammy and Grampy here.

Today & Yesterday

Today Miss Marlee had her very first bath at home. She wanted to be fresh for her first Doctor appointment. Dad and his two babies at the Doctor's office. Lane was so happy to be there for someone other than himself!
Lane watched the Doctor examine his Sister.
Marlee had a great checkup and she is officially back up to her birth weight.
And yesterday Grammy and Grampy got Lane a T-Ball set.
He gets the general idea...

He needs some practice. Maybe his buddy Rylee in Oklahoma can help him out? We hear she's really good at T-Ball.

A Happy 4th!

Our little Miss Firecracker had a very exciting 4th of July! We had a busy and fun day.
Marlee slept on her own for the very first time! Grampy had her outside and when my Mom went to check on them she found Marlee sleeping in a lawn chair. Up to that point she had only slept while being held, quite the opposite from her brother when he was a newborn. This afternoon we went to the annual 4th of July parade. Lane and Dad were excited to see Spike.
Lane waved and looked extra cute for candy. His favorite part of the parade were the horses.
Grampy and Dad held up a wall, while Marlee hung out in the shade.
Tonight we went to the game for a little bit. Marlee slept through the whole thing!
While brother played and watched the game.
After the game, Marlee got to run the bases with Dad while Lane ran with Grampy.
Before we went home for the night we tried for a family picture, I think we'll keep trying.

And when we got home Dad checked emails and Marlee cuddled up for the night. What a great day!
