Showing Off

Marlee got her very own kid's water tonight at dinner! She loved picking it up and taking sips out of her glass. She didn't drop her glass once! And drank almost two whole glasses. Such a big girl. Of course big brother had to do something to get his picture taken too.
He got creative and put crayon's behind his ears, with a little help from Daddy.

The Bug Man

The bug man just left and I have to tell you Lane was hilarious while he was here. Lane loves to have visitors and the fact that Mr. David was here to do some work was even more exciting to him. Lane followed him everywhere! David got several calls while he was here working so Lane got his phone out and took some calls too. Lane was so insistent on helping that I had to remind him a few times to give Mr. David some space. The next time Lane and I made eye contact while they were in the yard Lane said "I'm giving Mr. David some space". I love that little guy!
As David was leaving I asked him if he ever had helpers like Lane. He said no one ever followed him except for people wanting to make sure they got their money's worth and trainees. I wonder which category Lane will fall into?

Kiddie Park!

A highlight of a visit home in the summer is a trip to Kiddie Park. I grew up going and now our kids get to enjoy it too. It's an amusement park for little kids and it's cheap - just 25-50 cents a ride!
We weren't sure how many, if any rides Marlee would be able to do. Lane rode the chariots first and we thought we'd let Marlee try riding with him. She loved it!

Then we went to the car ride. Marlee was so excited and Lane loved his tractor.

Marlee and Lane took a ride in a big rig. Marlee opted not to wear her bow on that one.Marlee wasn't big enough to ride the ferris wheel so big brother went alone. We weren't sure he would like it without anyone to ride with him, but he was happy as a clam.

My two little pilots on the airplanes. They had a stick you had to pull back to make them fly. We yelled at Lane everytime he came by to pull back on it to go up in the air. He never quite got it, but one time they came by Marlee was pulling on her stick. Little cutie, wanted to help big brother out. Lane went on his own on the boat ride. He took driving the boat very seriously.

Marlee was happy waiting for Lane while he road the boats. Marlee was so happy all night, she just loved rides. I'm afraid she's going to be a little dare devil.Lane and Daddy went on the roller coaster together and loved it! The most anticipated ride of the night was the train. We all loved the train ride around kiddie park.On our way out Grammy and Grampy went on the carousel with Lane and Marlee. Looking at the smiles on their faces I'm not sure who had more fun.

The crew! We were so happy that Nina and Popeye went with us. Popeye even got the memo and wore his camoflauge pants to match Grampy and Lane's shorts. We stopped at Braums for ice cream on our way home. The perfect treat at the end of a hot night outside!

Oklahoma!

We took a long weekend to make a quick trip to Oklahoma this weekend to celebrate Grampy's Birthday. We surprised everyone, it was so much fun! Thursday night we crashed Grampy's birthday party with his friends. Lane led everyone in singing Happy Birthday and helped blow out the candles.
Friday morning Lane was so excited to go fishing with Grampy and Popeye. I heard him running through the house saying "it's fishing time" when he was looking for Grampy to go.

I sent the camera with Grampy and he got a picture of one of the little fish Lane caught. The three amigos. Lane, Grampy, and Popeye.Friday night we went to a Driller's game in Tulsa. I couldn't believe we were at one more baseball game than we had to be, but it was fun to have Clint sit with us! Marlee loves to wear sunglasses.

The boys did a great job keeping the kids entertained.
Unc Tyler taught Lane some of his best moves. Watch out world!

Marlee, the girl who barely sleeps at home and never sleeps out in public, fell asleep on Unc Tyler. She snuggled right in and took a nice little nap.
She woke up to enjoy the fireworks and a pocket full of popcorn.Saturday morning we took a road trip. Before we left the house Lane "styled" Marlee's hair, or head.We went to Pawnee to go swimming at a swim hole. It was part of the WPA built in 1939. I made everyone stop to get a picture of the back side of the bathhouse that lead down to the pond.Lane posed for a quick picture in front of the pond. Grampy, Clint, Lane and Marlee swam while Grammy and I watched. While we watched I came up with a great idea to have Lane go down the slide that fell into the water. Lane isn't much of a dare devil, but he really liked the slide. I loved how he kept checking to make sure Clint was ready for him.

On our way home Marlee drank out of a straw for the first time! When we got home saturday night we went to Kiddie Park. It's an amusement park for little kids that I grew up going to. Lane and Marlee both loved it and I took tons of pictures so I'll post all about it next time.

One Year Well Check

My sweet beautiful girl had her one year well check this morning. She is growing like crazy! She is in the 95% across the board. She weighs 26 lbs 2 oz, and is 31.1 inches long. She was a trooper while Dr. Chang examined her. She had to get three shots and a blood test. She was not so happy about that.
We ran some errands after our appointment. HEB was third on our list. Poor Marlee was wiped out by the time we got there. She slept through being moved out of her carseat into the cart and then slept the whole time we shopped. Lane snuck in some cuddle time with his "baby sister".Tonight Lane and Marlee went on a little ice cream date with Dad. Clint said Marlee slept the whole time. Poor thing, if she had known there was ice cream I'm sure she would have woken up!

Lane loves his ice cream!

A Happy 4th

We had the best 4th of July! I was pretty bummed that Round Rock and our surrounding towns were under a fireworks ban this year. I love the 4th - going to the park, taking a picnic, watching fireworks, but we couldn't do that this year. So made plans to go to some friends for dinner and we took a quick day trip to Marble Falls for the day. We his the downtown shopping area first and found this sweet little turtle. Then, we went to the Blue Bonnet cafe for lunch. They are know for their pies. The line for a table was out the door.
Lane discovered a new favorite. Toast with Orange Marmalade and whatever else he had on his plate. This slice had a slice of tomato and several potato chips on it.

Lane was in hog heaven. While we all visited Lane snuck our straws out of our cups. After lunch we drove to the Exotic Resort Zoo. It was sooooo much fun! We started off in the petting zoo. We were amazed that deer came right up to us! I have been to lots of petting zoos, but nothing like this. Lane was hilarious, as usual.

I laughed forever after he asked me if the deer poop was beans. We eat a lot of black beans, but we may not be having them for a few weeks, or at least until I can get that mental image out of my head.Lane got pretty comfortable around the animals. He gave the sheep a big hug and loved the little white goat. As we were heading out I asked him what he thought we should name the goat. Can you guess the name he picked.... Poop, of course!Marlee got to see some deer up close from the safe side of the fence. She really liked them!I tried to get a picture of the kids with the Grandparents. I usually post the ones where at least one person is looking, but this one is a bit more realistic. When our tour was ready we got to load up in the open air bus. Marlee was very interested in the feed. And big brother's sun glasses. The animals all ran up to the bus as soon as they saw it coming. It was unreal to see so many animals so close! We loved the Lama's! They were so sweet.Lane even got into feeding the Lama's. He couldn't get enough!

Grammy and Marlee reached out to pet Zoe the Zebra.Zoe was a sweet girl, but a bit on the bossy side. She was really fun. Lane up on his perch ready to feed some more animals. Grampy, Clint, and Grammy fed the Scottish Highlander. His tongue was out of control. For a farm girl Grammy was pretty funny.

Clint and Snowman. I can't remember what he is, but he was beautiful. Lane and a little buddy. The bison was really cool too. He also had a crazy long tongue.

Lane didn't want to get too close to him. Best Buds.Grammy and her Girl. Marlee kept a pretty close eye on that feed bucket. When we got off the bus the first thing we all did was wash our hands. Lane loved the "sink". He loved it so much he snuck a few drinks out of it.The rest of us waited to get a bottle of water inside.I am so glad we went to the Exotic Resort Zoo. When we drove up I wasn't too sure about it, but it was amazing! Our fireworkless 4th turned out to be one of my favorite 4th's ever!
