A Visit to Grandmas

Yesterday we made a quick trip to Kansas to visit my Grandma and Lane and Marlee's Great Grandma. The house she lives in has a little toy basket for kids to play with when they go to visit. Lane always remembers where the basket is and makes a bee line for it. After some good playtime I sat Marlee and Lane in a chair next to Grandma for a picture. Shocker, I couldn't get Lane to look at me.

On the way home Marlee jibber jabbered like she loves to do. I snuck my camera out and was able to get a little bit of her talking on camera before she caught me.

I'm not excited that Lane is teaching her to spit, but I do love that they interact more and more everyday. Marlee thinks her big brother is one cool dude!

The Wild West

Today we got to go to a Wild West show! We started our afternoon with lunch. The Indian Flute player came by while Marlee was fussing. She stopped so she could listen to him, she loved his music.
After lunch we walked around and checked out all the vendors. A booth that was selling feathers put a little feather in Marlee's hair.Marlee looked like a little Indian princess with her red and black feather.Lane had fun checking out the old buildings. He was supposed to pose for a picture with Popeye on the covered bridge. And he stopped for a quick pick with Grammy before they toured the old Post Office. We found our seats for the show. Marlee stood and bounced while the girls came out with the American flags. She spent a little time in Grammy's lap with brother's hat on. During intermission we went to get the kids faces painted. Marlee fell asleep while we were in line. It made her first experience with face painting an easy one! I wasn't sure if Lane would sit and let the lady paint his face. While we waited in line he told me he wanted a horse on his hand. I was talking to someone else when he sat down in the facepainting chair. She pulled out a big brush and started paining all over his face. Lane was a still as could be.I guess he told the lady he wanted his face painted like a zebra? A little boy a few kids ahead of us in line got his face painted like a zebra. That must have been where he got the idea.Grampy got the zebra some cotton candy and he even shared a little bit with "Unc Sarah".On our way back to our seats Lane saw a pony ride. He has never wanted to ride one, but he grabbed me and told me he wanted to ride a horse. He was so excited! He waved every time he passed us.
A little cowboy in the making.

After all the fun we went back to watch the end of the show. The finale was the "One Arm Bandit". He was really fun to watch. We had another great day at Grammy and Grampy's, filled with lots of firsts for Lane and Marlee!

Gone Fishin

We had the best day today! The kids and I are visiting at Grammy and Grampys while Clint is on a work trip. Grampy and Popeye go fishing every week and today we crashed their trip. Grammy, Nina, and I took the kids up to meet they guys for lunch. Lane was so excited! We got there and he had to go out on the dock to wave Grampy and Popeye in.Lane took a quick trip on the boat before they docked it for lunch. We checked out the morning's catch before the guys scouted out a picnic spot.
As soon as we decided on a spot for our cookout everyone got busy. Lane and Nina got the wood ready for a fire. And as soon as a good fire was going Lane and Popeye grilled the hotdogs. Lane decided it was too hot so he let Popeye finish cooking the hotdogs he was in charge of.
While we cooked Marlee had fun playing with Lane's hat.Once we were ready to eat we moved Marlee to her chair, she loves it! She just sat and watched while we fixed our plates.Lane and Popeye were ready to eat!Chowing down an his huge hotdog.Marlee hovered between my plate and Grammys. When everything was gone off my plate she moved over to eat some more off of Grammys. After lunch Grampy and Popeye brought up the fish they caught. Lane had to help!Marlee chilled out in her stroller. The kids had so much fun playing in the bed of Popeye's truck. I think it might have been the highlight of their day. Once Lane found out there was plain ice in the big ice chest he had the best time eating ice cubes and feeding them to me and Marlee. The boat trailer made a great jungle gym.
Lane helped Popeye get everything ready before they went back out on the boat. Lane was most excited about "driving the boat".
All three of the boys gave us a big wave as they left the dock for a little more fishing. Grammy and Nina waved back. The boys stayed another thirty minutes or so out on the boat. Lane was not interested in his fishing pole because he had to be behind the wheel. What a fun day! We can't wait to do it again!

A size 14 shoe box

Clint got some new shoes this past weekend and as soon as he put them on Lane latched onto the shoe box. The past couple of days Lane's been using it to put some of his little treasures in. Tonight he decided he wanted to "ride in it". So, up he went...
Marlee had to have a turn too. She had as much fun as brother.

Until she busted out of it. As Clint got Lane ready for bed tonight I heard him tell Lane that he could have another shoe box as soon as he got another pair of new shoes. I hope Lane doesn't have to wait too long.

Seatbelts!

When Lane got his tractor for his Birthday back in May we were disappointed to find that it did not have seatbelts. Lane was fine without one, but Marlee really needed one to be able to ride.
Daddy put seatbelts in for both of them today! I was so impressed, the straps are screwed into the seats and have real buckles and everything. Marlee, our little daredevil, loved riding with brother! This little video is pretty uneventful but I know Grammy and Co will enjoy it. To get started we had Lane drive in low gear, after one pass he was ready to drive back on the highest speed. I hope Marlee's little neck isn't sore tonight.

A Quick Pic

Lane found a park bench for us all to sit on tonight after dinner. We all sat and I decided to try to get a picture of Clint with Lane & Marlee. Marlee was all smiles, but big brother had other ideas. I love it anyway! Then, Clint tried to get a picture of the babies with me and Lane immediately put his head on my lap.
Oh well, I love him anyway too!

One Last Base Run

Tonight was game 71 of the regular schedule 72 games this season. This next to last game is always exciting for us. Clint puts a video together of the whole season that everyone watches after the game and knowing that we are so close to the end is super exciting. Tonight the kids got to run the bases after the game so we joined Clint to play on the field while we waited our turn.
Don't be fooled. Lane isn't sitting and waiting patiently, he ran around the field like a crazy person while we waited. I think he just sat down to take off his shoes and I happened to catch him on camera. Cutie!
Lane and Marlee rolled around on the grass a bit. She walked a little, but had more fun rolling around with brother.

Sweet girl.

Finally Lane got to run the bases. He went with Tucker, who Lane thinks is the coolest. I loved watching the two of them run together. I think Lane ran a little different tonight running next to Tucker. He's growing up way too fast.

My favorite picture of the night. My two sweeties with Spike, our annual end of season picture. The Express are playing for the championship this year so we have few extra games to play. But we'll have Clint back very soon, and for that we are EXCITED!
