Lane's Adventure

While Clint and I were in NYC, Lane went on a little vacation of his own. He went to Oklahoma! Lucky guy. While he was there he got to do tons of fun stuff. Starting with, a second haircut.

He wasn't feeling it. It looks like he did relax for a little bit though!

He got to hang out with his big sis Rylee. Looks like they were working on some baseball skills.

G & G got him a new ride. Cool dude!

Grampy insisted he have a helmet when he rides his motorcycle. Looks like he liked it!

Who said a picture is worth a thousand words? The video tells the real story.
On Friday everyone headed to southern Oklahoma for the Harton Family Reunion. I think my P's sent this picture because they are trying to tell me something - a possible name change is in their future?
While at the reunion Lane got to meet PaPa Bob's sisters. One of which has the best potato casserole recipe ever!
Lane had a great time swinging in the little car swing.
He swung and swung. It looks like he even convinced PaPa Bob to swing with him. Grampy and Lane had some pool time.
He went for lots of wagon rides. He even found a buddy to carpool with, or would that be wagonpool?
With all that was going on Lane even found some time to just sit and relax.

Or, to sit and watch Grampy play kickball. Go Grampy!

Lane told me he had a great time in OK!

A Big Adventure

Clint and I got to go to NYC for the weekend! We were both super excited to be in NYC. Clint's been quite a few times, but this was my first trip to the big city. We have one rule when on vacation in a new place, sleep and relaxation are not allowed.
As soon as we put our things down at the hotel we headed to our first destination. Hoboken, NJ to see Buddy. You can see his place over my right shoulder. The inside was so much smaller than I thought it would be.
I was ready to load up on sweets, but Clint reigned me in. I ended up with three things. A red velvet cupcake that was AMAZING, and cream puff, and a delicious cannoli, that they filled after I ordered it.
Clint got a piece of pie. Weirdo!
We took the ferry from Hoboken back to NYC. It was a great way to see the city.

And the statue of Liberty.
We were the only people on our ferry, so the ferry drivers invited us in to chat. All they wanted to talk about were the Dallas Cowboys.
We then went and walked and walked and walked, from the financial district up to Hells kitchen for dinner with a guy that used to work for me at Baylor. It was so fun to see Daniel and catch up over a delicious meal. After dinner we explored some more and went back to our hotel to enjoy this view.
Friday morning we planned to get up early to go see the GMA concert in the park, but we missed it. We stopped at a farmers market for some fruit for breakfast.

Rented bikes and rode all over Central Park.
Chowed down on NY pizza. Yes, all that food is for just the two of us, we pigged out!
We hit as many stores as I could drag Clint into. We did have a great time picking out a souvenir for Lane in FAO Swartz.
We finally made it to Bryant Park. It was fun to see the park I see so often on GMA.
That night we went to a Mets game.
We went early for a tour of the control room and all that fun stuff. While we were in the control room I got to push the button that makes the home run apple raise. Luckily, someone hit a homerun during the game so I could take a pic.
We each enjoyed a hotdog during the game. Delish!
After the game we went to see the flat iron building and happened upon the Shake Shack. I've seen it the Food Network and was excited to try it out. We had the best burger I have ever eaten, seriously.
Our hotel was on Times Square. Times Square is a crazy place on Friday and Saturday night. We pushed our way through the crowd to see this guy paint this picture using only spray paint and putty knives. Pretty neat. Oh, and as we were walkedthe rest of the way to the hotel a man offered me some marijuana. How nice.
Saturday we reluctantly got out of bed, we were both sooooo tired. We headed down to Canal street (China town) and Little Italy. Bless Clint's heart. I stopped at way to many little booths on Canal street. I must admit I was suckered. I kept hoping I would find something really neat instead of the same thing I had seen at the previous booth.
As a reward for his patience, Clint got a reflexology foot massage. This poor woman was assessing the situation when Clint took his shoes off. After the massage Clint was rearing to go again. On our way to little Italy for lunch I was these adorable little turtles and thought of my little guy swimming.

We shared Chicken Parmigiana for lunch and then went for dessert at Ferrara's upon the recommendation of our friend Khalil. I got an eclair and another cannoli. Buddy's got Ferrara's beat.
After a full day we went back to the hotel and got ready for the fireworks show.
We took the bus from the city to Jackson Township, NJ - to Six Flags Great Adventure. We went to see the fireworks show that the company Clint uses for our games puts on. It's a huge, award winning show set to music. This was part of the finale. Unfortunately, the camera doesn't begin to do it justice.
We headed home early Sunday morning. I can't wait to go back!

That's a Wrap

Lane went to his last swim lesson Wednesday.

After 7 short days of lessons he knows how to:
blow bubbles in the water
float away from Mom or Dad
scoop things up in the water with his arms (the beginnings of a doggie paddle)
hold his breath underwater
swim underwater to the side of the pool
grab the wall and pull himself up
climb out of the pool
jump in
stare at Dad upside down through his legs
Now, before you imagine this amazing baby swimming you should know he does all these things with some help. I will tell you it is pretty amazing to see how much more comfortable and happy he is in the water since we started lessons last week. Watch out Michael Phelps!

Oh, and Lane did get his certificate of completion and his teacher told me he passed the class. I didn't realize that passing a 15 month old wasn't an option!

Baseball Fever

It's hard to believe Baseball season is almost over. We are soaking up every last game. When Lane and I went to the game on Monday this is what we saw.Yes, Clint was Elvis on Monday night! I knew he was dressing up, but this was more than I could have imagined.
He did several on field games, he even did the twist up on the dugout. I tried to get a video, but Lane sabotaged me. He kept pulling the camera cord so I couldn't get the camera steady enough to video. He's too young to be taking sides!
Lane got some camera time himself one night. He loved looking into the lens.
Lane always loves to share ice cream with his favorite ballpark buddy.
And, his new favorite trick. Sitting in his seat all by himself.
He can't keep the seat down completely. He spends his time pushing the seat up and down with his little legs.
After some work, he did realize that if he sits on the edge of the seat, he's good. What a smart guy.

15 Months!

Lane turned 15 months Saturday. We took him to the park to take some pictures. He was very busy checking everything out so, let's just say we did the best we could with what we had.

One Week Down

Week one of swim lessons is complete. Lane got to swim with Dad again on Thursday, and loved it of course. They spent the class practicing the things they had learned and some new things. They started out easy with floating.
And then moved on to going from one person to another. Lane couldn't help clapping in between passes.
Lane had so much fun he would clap in between passes.

And, before class ended Clint found the toy shark. Lane loved it.

Swim Lesson Update I

As promised, Clint got in the water with Lane for his swim lesson today. I was a little envious because the class did a lot of new things today.

Part of the lesson involved putting Lane's face in the water. Clint had no problem putting my sweet baby's face in the water.

And, if you thought that was bad, look at this! Lane didn't mind it at all.

At the end of class Lane learned how to climb out of the pool on his own (or maybe he had a little help from Dad). This video is a little long, but it is too cute. Lane reminds me of a tiny baby turtle.
