Tomorrow's a Big Day!

Today has been a hard day for me.  My sweet Lane starts Pre-Kindergarten this year, he's ready and excited but Momma's not.  Tonight we went to "open house" at school.  Lane had a great time checking out his classroom and playing with some of the kids in his class.  Of course I had him take a picture in front of his very first locker.
Here he's sitting in his spot for circle time.
This is the reading area.  I think this will be a favorite area of Lanes.
The common area outside of the Pre-K classrooms has a fun play scape.  Marlee might be a little jealous of all the cool things Lane is going to get to play with.  I'm thinking she is going to miss him like crazy.  We'll probably both be crying tomorrow wishing Lane was home with us.
Lane is sooo excited to start school.  We went to have a one on one session with his teacher last week and you can see how excited he was.  We've been talking about school for quite a while now, but today every time we talked about it I just couldn't hold back the tears.  At one point he said "don't cry Mommy, I'll come home when school is over".  He has such a sweet heart and I don't worry for one bit that he'll do great.  I just want him to be happy and I hate to think that he's going to run into things we haven't prepared him for.  I know that's a part of life, I just have a hard time dealing with it when it comes to my baby.
If you think about us tomorrow please say a prayer for us!  His school is a full day, he's to be there from 8:50-3:35.  Today I watched the clock and it's a long time!  I'll be sure to report back how the day goes.

Life in the Backyard

Since we moved to OK we've been staying at Grammy and Grampy's until we close on our house.  The kids love to play outside in Grammy and Grampy's backyard.  They want to be outside morning, noon, and night.  Lane loves to help Grampy, who always has something to work on.
They make quite the pair.
Lane does lots of driving.  Marlee will go anywhere he brother will drive her.
Daddy loves to go out and throw the football around with the kids.  Marlee is just learning and Lane's an old pro.
Marlee will also go anywhere her brother will push her!
 Best buds!

Kids Fest

My Parents have wanted to take Lane and Marlee to Kid's Fest at Woolaroc forever, but because we lived 8 hours away the timing never worked out.  But, you can bet that this year Grammy and Grampy were all over going to Kid's Fest.  It was a super hot day, but we all had a ball!  We began our day at the Mountain Men camp.  A group of men really live there on the land and do demonstrations.  I saw one of the men letting kids shoot his shotgun.  I told Lane and he was ready to go!
Lane and Grampy waited in line and I thought Lane might change his mind the closer he got, but he didn't.  He was really excited to take his turn.
 Lane looks like a pro!
Marlee found a tree swing that she thought looked like fun.  She is one brave girl!
Lane tried pulling a cart while his Sister swung.
The kids were excited to get their faces painted.  Lane knew he wanted something orange.  I helped him decide on a horse after giving him several cowboy related options.
Marlee got a sweet pink flower.  The face painting lady let Grammy do it.
After face painting we went to paint a rock.  Marlee had to do it all by herself.  She got her rock completely covered in paint before we left.
Lane had Grammy and Grampy help him.  He picked his colors and went for it.  He was very proud of his finished product!  It's out on Grammy and Grampy's back porch all the time.
After the rock painting, the kids went for a train ride.  They thought they wanted to sit up high on the front car, but decided to sit a little further back with Grammy.
Marlee had a great time waving to everyone as the train went by.
Grammy and Lane stopped to catch a magic show.
We found a booth that let kids paint little ceramic things.  Lane spotted a boot and was inspired to paint it all green!  He say's green is his favorite color 98% of the time when asked.  He was meticulous!  He wanted to be sure every spot of that boot was painted green.  I think he would have worked on it for an hour if we had let him.
After the boot painting we went to find the line to ride the covered wagon.  We found a shady place to sit while we waited and Marlee decided to relax.
Lane got the best seat on the wagon.
Miss Marlee insisted on sitting on her own side of the wagon.  She really enjoyed her freedom on the ride.
We spent the whole afternoon at Woolaroc and stayed busy the entire time.  By the time we got back to the car and got the kids loaded into their seats they were asleep within minutes.

Fun with Rylee

We got to spend a fun day with Miss Rylee.  Now that we are here in Bartlesville all the time we'll be able to see her for playdates more often.  We had a cookout for lunch and went to the splash pad.  It was a warm day, but the clouds and wind made it a little bit cool with the water.  Marlee wasn't too sure about getting wet.
Lane had a great time running around with Rylee!
Marlee spent more time posing for pictures than she did playing in the water.
The best part of the day?  Snack time.
We can't wait to play again Rylee!

Movin On Up

We said goodbye to our life in Round Rock and made the big move to Bartlesville, OK.  We have contemplated making the move for a couple of years now and the time was finally right.  Clint provided us with a wonderful life working in Baseball, we had so many opportunities that we wouldn't have had otherwise.  It was hard to say goodbye, but we are excited about what our future holds.  Clint is making a total career change, he's going to be a Realtor and we have a contract on a house just four doors down from my parents!  It sounds really close, but don't worry, we can't see each others houses from our respective houses.

Lane and Marlee are over the moon to be so close to Grammy and Grampy and honestly Clint and I are too!  And it will be really nice to be so close in December when baby Musslewhite #3 is due!!!

The Magic Word

Miss Marlee is a quick study.  Having a big brother to watch and learn from has given Marlee an unfair advantage when it comes to getting what she wants.  Marlee has always been a very determined little girl.  If she wants something she usually figures out a way to get it.

Monday Clint was off.  He was down on the floor putting a floor puzzle together with Lane.  Marlee came in and wanted a puzzle piece or something she couldn't have.  Clint gently told her she couldn't have it and Marlee threw herself down on the floor to have a fit.  She started throwing fits about a month ago, and I have to admit she's pretty good at it!  At any rate she threw her fit and calmed herself down and went over to Clint, climbed up on his lap, put her forehead to his forehead and looked into his eyes and very sweetly said Peeese.

She's already trying to work her Daddy!  I did confirm with Clint that he did not give in.  Looks like she has some more work to do!

My Little Jumpers

Last night we hit up the bungee jump at the ballpark.  Lane went for the first time with a little friend last year and loved it.  Now we pretty much have to "jump" every time we go to the game.  The last time Lane jumped we saw a little girl about the size of Marlee jumping, so last night I let her try it out.
I asked Marlee several times while we were in line if she wanted to jump.  Each time I asked she nodded her head yes.  I was hopeful, she is a daredevil, but I also knew I could get her up there and she might freak out.
We got her buckled into the harness and she wanted me to hold her hand.  The girl working our trampoline told me I could get up on the trampoline with her and bounce her myself.  It was great, Marlee loved it!!  She even wanted to go higher.  She liked it so much she got off and said "again".
The second time around I got to stand back and take a few pictures.  Marlee was so cute!
Big brother jumped so hard on his first turn that he didn't want a second turn.  He watched Marlee from the bench and waited for his turn to go climb the rock wall.
My little climber had a great time!
The best part of the night?  Aunt Sarah and Uncle Tyler were at the game with us!  They surprised us with a quick visit and we have had so much fun having them here, I don't want to see them go tomorrow.

Now, my little jumpers in action!  Marlee's video is really dark, but you can hear her squeal several times!
