Happy Birthday Lane!

This is a huge post, because today was a HUGE day! My sweet Lane turned two and we had lots of celebrating to do!
This was the invitation to his party. We had his party at a nearby park that has a neat playground and an open air train that makes a several mile lap around the park.
Last year, I got a first birthday photo of Lane getting up on this birthday. I had to do the same again this year. I don't think he completely understands what a birthday is, but he sure did seem to understand that today is special! He never wakes up this excited.
Standing up and ready to start the day. Look at that happy face! He slept until a little after 10 am and we had to leave to get to the park by 10:30. He ate a quick breakfast with Grammy, Grampy, and Auntie and Uncle T before we took off.
I bought birthday balloons for Lane to have at the park. Grammy and Grampy went and got them inflated before we left and...they were off into the sky before we walked ten steps! Luckily Lane didn't mind, and in reality they probably would have been a mess. It was so windy yesterday that it was hard to keep anything in it's proper place. The kids got to play while all the adults visited and huddled to stay warm and block the wind. We all had lots of fun while Grampy and Uncle T grilled the burgers and hot dogs for lunch.
And then we played a bit more. Lane loved the slides. Every time he got to the bottom of a slide he would sign more and take off to go again.
Then, it was time for cake. We stuck with the train theme. Lane loved the candy on the train cars. Seriously, I think he almost went into a sugar coma the day Auntie and I made the cake he ate so much candy. Poor kid never gets candy so when he had the chance he ran with it! Lane loved hearing everyone sing Happy Birthday. Then, he sat and watched his sparkler until it was completely burnt out.
To wrap up the party we all went on the train ride around the park.
Lane and and a couple of his buddies with their train whistles after the train ride. I got Lane a conductors hat for the party and train ride and of course forgot it in the car, so we had to take pictures with it on before we left.
Before Clint had to go work to prep for the game tonight, the family all came back to our house to watch Lane open presents. He loved tearing the wrapping paper and wanted to stop and play with every single thing he opened.
His Great Grandma sent him a little old fashioned toy truck.
Grampy insisted that he needed a train set and Grammy went along with him. Grammy said "he's young for it now, and Grampy said "when he's 50 it will be an antique." Way to think ahead Grampy!
Lane got an electric drill that he thinks is the coolest thing ever. I think he played with it so much he ran the batteries down within the first 30 minutes.
He did a little "work" on all of his new toys.
Nina Ruth and PaPa Bob (or Popeye) as Lane calls him got him a cute little dump truck that talks and shakes. Lane did a little work on it.
And he worked on the new tricycle Grammy and Grampy got him.
And he played his new giant piano while he drank his milk. He likes to mulitask.
At the game I thought Lane deserved a very special Birthday treat. He got to have cotton candy for the first time and had so much fun eating it.
He even was generous enough to share a few bites with his Grandfathers. We had a great day and we are all so thankful for our precious Lane. I can't wait to see what this new year of being two will bring.
